Take Action

‘‘A man can bear any what if he has a big enough why.’’ – Nietzsche

If you’re reading this blog, then it’s already clear that you’re taking action. People who take action stick out from the crowd, and for good reason, they are leaders without a title. Are you taking action to the next level you to ought to be or are waiting for the right time? To take any action you will need courage. Winston Churchill observed that ‘‘Courage is rightly considered the foremost of the virtues, for upon it, all others depend.’’

To have courage means that you are willing to take risks in the achievement of your action with no assurance of success. There is no certainty in life every commitment you make and every action you take entails a risk of some kind. The fact is that the future belongs to the people who take action mostly concerns the risk takers, not the security-seekers. The future belongs to those who are willing to move out of their comfort zones and take the necessary action. Are you ready to move out of the comfort zone? You will have to be bold and expect no guarantees. Like climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro take one step at a time and enjoy every success. A farmer who has planted oranges enjoy the first fruits which are near him, later enjoys the fruits at the top most. Like an orange farmer enjoy the success made at each step. As this gives them more courage to move on. Samuel Johnson wrote, ‘‘Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome.’’

Once you decide to take action you will be moving forward under all circumstances. Remember that the more you take action the more confident you get and you will do more right things leading to your success. You need a lot of patience to hang in there when you seem not to be making any progress or when things are going against you. When nothing seems to go on continues to persevere, carry through, and push forward with the same vigor and energy with which he began. Remember the calmer you remain in a crisis, the better you can think, analyze, and decide. Crisis test your resolve for the action taken. Whatever you do or not do is still an action. Look at the options available and choose the right action.

What action have you been putting on hold for a while? Why? While you focus on the end result what action should you take so that you spring forward? Action is prompted by opportunities, problems and challenges. Our action will depend on the way we see things. When taking action remember to look at the reality.

Remember that General Douglas McArthur once wrote, ‘‘There is no security in life; only opportunity.’’
